The Shepparton Heritage Centre is guided by one vision: “Preserving the Past to Inform the Future.” Our Heritage Education Programs bring local history to life through hands-on engagement with significant documents, artefacts, and memorabilia from across the Greater Shepparton region. Participants gain insight into the community’s heritage and development, building a strong sense of identity and pride while drawing lessons that inform the future.

Community Heritage Connection Program

Through our Community Heritage Connection programs, we bring Shepparton’s history to life. Participants of all ages engage directly with significant documents, artefacts, photographs, and oral histories, exploring the people, stories, and events that have shaped the Greater Shepparton Region. These experiences build a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural, social, and economic evolution, while strengthening pride, identity, and intergenerational connection. By learning from the past, participants gain insight that supports informed, thoughtful action for the future.

Self-Guided Museum Experience

Step into Shepparton’s past with self-guided access to the Shepparton History Museum, housed in the historic 1873 Institute Hall. Explore artefacts, documents, photographs, and memorabilia that reveal the region’s migration, cultural diversity, agricultural and industrial development, wartime contributions, and local community evolution. Interactive displays offer an engaging and educational experience for individuals, families, schools, and community groups.

Museum Visit, History Presentation & Precinct Walk

For a fully immersive experience, combine your museum visit and slide show with a guided walk through the Shepparton Heritage Precinct.
